Dark Angel

Oh angel of darkness,
tell me how you ruin’d;
blew this love to the wind.

You blame my recklessness.

I think you’re in waiting
to the slips; to the fall
’cause you knew I was small –
I’m made to be hurting.

What calling do you seek
to rouse the madness I
hid away from his eye?

Let it sleep when I’m weak.

You should carry the light
in the midst of shadows;
my angel for sorrows,
let my heart rest tonight.

Same old faces. Same old walks.
The weather feels nice
but these old things don’t.
Anymore. I feel tired.

But I believe in second chances:
I let old, smog-ridden winds
kiss my painted cheeks;
old, familiar pavements
click at the tap of my heels.

My knees are wobbly.
Yet, I strut. I try.
Then I run. Away.
Same old buildings
are caving in.
